Another Friday is here. I woke up shivering today, which is a rare treat in Florida. It's about 38 degrees and I have no central heating. I still follow my routine as I gotta commute to work for one more day. I warm up the stove and prepare my delicious scrambled egg sandwich with a side of French-pressed coffee. I love listening to albums, and this week I listened to quite a few of them.
Today I'll focus on Tony Molina, a NorCal legend. Man, I can listen to his little poems forever. I love how his songs are structured. Just fragmented glimpses of isolation, losing friends, and still having hope. All of this is accompanied by fuzzed-out guitars just blazing through, knocking everything out of its way.
I revisited Dissed and Dismissed as it was the first album I heard by him. It's only like 11 minutes long, yet every second is spent giving these emotional gut punches followed by the coolest solos. There is something so beautiful about the brevity of these tracks. No time is wasted, and these songs linger in your mind long after it's runtime. This album is like a rock alone in the shore withstanding the crashing waves while doing its best to stay still. It's only a matter of time before the rising tide forces you to move on.
